        DAISY's PUPS HAVE ARRIVED!!

4th May 2008 3 boys and 3 girls

Daisy whelped earlier than her due date, on Sunday night.  She has had 3 boys and 3 girls and all are doing really well.  It was a natural birth with a fifteen minute gap between each puppy, which gave Daisy just enough time to clean up one new arrival just as the other was ready to be born.

She has taken to motherhood as I expected, with a typical Belgian grin and a lovely wag of her tail.  'Hey mum look what I've done' is written all over her face!

I was really glad to be able to watch the birth as was my daughter Samy and my mum too.  Daisy was more than happy to share the moment with us all.

There are some photos of the pups on the photo gallery.

Below are details of the Sire and Dam:

Daisy has been mated to the most fabulous male Malinois called Bonvivant Cause Celebre at Tiggertoo, 'Cesar'.  He is a direct son of Maubray Du Maugre and out of Jan Ralph's foundation bitch from Liz Richardson, Sabrefield Right Answer for Bonvivant JW.

Daisy is my foundation bitch and I hope to produce a litter that both Jan, Liz and Betty (Gwashleas) will be proud of.

Daisy's awards can be seen below.

Cesar's awards:

Best Puppy in Breed and Best Dog at Crufts 2001 at under 10 months of age!  Best of Breed at Crufts 2002 and Dog World Top Malinois 2003.  Then Top Sire 2007.

These puppies will be - if trained well - good at any of the dogs sports that are around today, from agility to flyball and dog dancing to canix.  Daisy is the older sister of the Bonvivant K litter.

Both Daisy and Cesar have fabulous temperaments and nothing seems to stop their tails from wagging!

The puppies will be due around the 9th May and will be available for new approved homes on 4th July!  What a fantastic way to celebrate the American Independence Day!  Mmm this gives me some ideas for puppy names!

UPDATE

As Daisy whelped early the pups will now be ready to leave around the 29th June.  The registered names after KC approval will be:

Stonedragon Apprentice - Dog puppy

Stonedragon Amulet - Dog puppy

Stonedragon Alchemist - Dog puppy

Stonedragon Amythyst - Bitch puppy

Stonedragon Aria - Bitch puppy

Stonedragon Aura - Bitch puppy

CHARACTER

Daisy and I have dabbled at agility and after just a little bit of training is able to run a course - its me that has the problem keeping up with her!  She is trained for obedience - some of it by handsignals.  She is a very friendly dog who loves children and other dogs.  When she was a puppy she was quite shy and needed time to mature which can be the case with this breed, but she's fine now.   Daisy's favourite place is curled up asleep but when she gets into the fields she loves hunting for bunnies - I blame her mum for this as her name is 'Bunny', but she never catches them and never goes out of sight.

Her love for obedience was very obvious from just a few months old.  As soon as I showed her the heel position she was happy and as someone who loves to train for obedience, its great to work with a dog who is always so eager to please.

I had planned to compete her this year but the litter has forced me to wait until next year.
